"Octo Mom" or how about a human being who now has 14 children...

"Octo Mom"? What is she, some type of comic book super villain now? Yikes...

So not that you will particularly care about my opinion of a woman who had octuplets... but I will give it to you anyways. I surprisingly did not have this immense hatred that most people seem to have for this woman. I was, and still am, absolutely disgusted that people are actually sending her death threats. Are you serious? You actually want her to DIE because of this? Yes, I understand why this is viewed as quite irresponsible and a general concern has been made for these children. I also agree that there should have been more effort put in by the hospital or somebody in the IVF clinic; there is usually a professional at hospitals to basically do risk assessment type work on patients. If a single, unemployed mother with six kids (3 of which are disabled) receiving food stamps comes in pregnant with octuplets, I think that maybe should have raised a red flag, or at least an eyebrow. I do not wish her doctor any type of death threat either, but I do understand why his actions should be looked into. I thought that there was a limit to how many eggs a woman could be implanted with. I had heard 1-3 eggs are usually implanted at a time, and that more could be frozen. (Do not quote me there because I do not know how true that is. I did however research the topic, and those are the numbers that I found.) So, what happened? If this woman was maybe a little unstable, or not in the right mental state, again...maybe she should have been recommended to someone who could look a little deeper into her situation. That would have been the responsible thing to do. If she was able to take care of all 14 kids and had the room, the time, the money and the support, then I do not think anybody would really care. People seem to be fascinated with families who have a lot of children, but what I mean is that I don't think people would have reacted so negatively. I do not think that she is evil, or that she is having children with the motive to harm them or create an awful standard of living in any way shape or form. However, you have to admit... There is something quite off about this whole thing. Something off with the doctor that implanted 6...7... eggs or whatever it was. Something off with her personality and the things that she says. I was struck by a few comments. The fact that she stated she holds each one of her children for 45 minutes a day and "how many parents can say that?" Well, not many, because usually a parent in their right mind wouldn't say a thing like that to begin with. How many children under seven do you know that would even sit still for that long? Well hey, maybe she holds them in 5 minute increments... I don't know. Not many parents really take a minute count each time they hold their children either. Also, I can completely understand wanting a large family, but thinking that having lots of kids will fill some type of void in your life, I cannot. I am assuming that even now, with fourteen children, that void or that feeling of being unfilled as a child herself is still present. I will say this. If she can take care of all those children, have a Master's Degree, work and not instill the same loneliness or heartbreak that she felt in her own childhood, I give her a million tons of respect.

The bottom line is yes someone should have intervened a long time ago, but they didn't. The children are here and reality is reality. You hope these death threats come into fruition so her fourteen children become orphans?
